Miskin Manor CC U11 v Pontypridd CC U11 – 15th August, 2011

Pontypridd 239 for 5 – Miskin Manor 266 for 5 (Miskin won by 27 runs)

Miskin Manor CC U11 welcomed Pontypridd CC U11 to Glyn Park on Monday 15th August, 2011 in a re-arranged league fixture.

With heavy showers falling in the area until around 5pm in the afternoon the fixture was in doubt up until pitching of stumps. Pontypridd CC batted first and struggled against some accurate Miskin bowling. Wickets were shared between Lewys Ryan, Martin Diamond, Iestyn Herridge, Matthew Clapham & Ike Hurford. The pick of the fielders was Matthew Mullen who took an excellent catch at point. Pontypridd finished on 239 off their allotted 20 overs.

The Miskin team went about their reply in a steady fashion with Matthew Mullen (9) Lewys Ryan (11) & Ike Hurford (9) being the pick of the batsmen. Ike Hurford hit a 6 over mid-wicket in the last over to seal a Miskin win.

Well done to both sides that both played well in the difficult wet conditions.

This was the U11’s last league fixture in a successful season.

 

Miskin Manor CC U11 v St Fagans CC U11 – 10th August, 2011

Miskin 275 for 5 – St Fagans 275 for 6 (Game tied)

Miskin Manor CC U11 travelled to St Fagans for a friendly midweek fixture on Wednesday 10th August, 2011.

St Fagans won the toss & put Miskin in to bat.

Following a steady opening stand of 23 runs between Iestyn Herridge & Lewys Ryan each batsman contributed to the total with Martin Diamond scoring 14 & Ike Hurford 12. Miskin reached a total of 275 for 5 off their allotted 20 overs.

In reply St Fagans kept up with the run rate despite some accurate bowling from the Miskin team with leg-spinner Martin Diamond taking 2 for 8 off 3 overs. It came down to the final over of the game with St Fagans needing 7 runs to win. The last over was bowled by Miskin captain, Ike Hurford, in failing light. After 5 deliveries pitched-up to the St Fagans captain, Charles Griffiths, the batting side still required 3 runs to win off the last ball of the innings. The batsmen crossed for 2 runs from the final delivery to end the game in a closely fought tie.

Miskin Manor CC U11 v Brecon CC U11 – 8th August, 2011

Miskin 260 for 7 – Brecon 272 for 4  

Miskin Manor CC U11 welcomed Brecon CC U11 to Glyn Park on Monday 8th August, 2011 in a re-arranged league fixture.

Brecon won the toss & put Miskin in to bat.

With heavy showers forecast the game took place on the Astroturf wicket. Miskin struggled against some accurate Brecon bowling. The only batsman to get into double figures was Lewys Ryan who scored 11 off his allotted 4 overs. After a number of needless run-outs in the later stages Miskin posted a total of 260 for 7.

In reply Brecon batted steadily between persistent rain showers. The Miskin bowlers found it difficult controlling the wet ball & gave away a lot of extras. Brecon were contained until the 18th over when they passed Miskin’s total & finished on 272 for 4. The pick of the Miskin bowlers was Niall Jones who took 1 for 10.

Brecon deservedly won the game by 12 runs.

Brecon’s fielding was outstanding with a number of run outs and stumpings ultimately proving decisive

U11′s cruise to victory

Miskin  u11s cruised to victory at Hopkinstown on Monday evening – Lewys Ryan (17) And John Holder opened with 34 as 1st pair in and throughout the batting order useful contributions from all the players kept the score ticking over, with Will and Ike going in last taking the the score past 300 to a useful total of 328-2 as the innings closed.

Always likely to be too big a score for Hopkinstown to chase, their batsmen fought manfully throughout against some accurate Miskin bowling,  with wickets for John Holder, Kayleigh Powell, and captain Ike Hurford who picked up a wicket coutesy of an excellent catch by Lewys Ryan, following a run out earlier in the over.

With Hopkinstown closing on 243 for 5, Miskin wrapped up the points with a comfortable 86 run victory,

Cowbridge CC U11 v Miskin Manor CC U11

Cowbridge  264-9 – Miskin 303-3

Miskin Manor CC U11 travelled to Cowbridge on Wednesday 13th July, 2011 to play Cowbridge CC U11 in a friendly fixture.

Miskin won the toss & put the home side in to bat.

Cowbridge batted steadily on a ground with a particularly fast outfield. In view of the amount of rain that has hit the area over the past few weeks the Cowbridge set-up was immaculate. Their side scored 264 off their 20 overs. The pick of the Miskin bowling being Kayleigh Powell 2-11 & Ben Crook also 2-11.

Mat Mullen (15) & William Clapham (11) got Miskin off to a flyer in reply. The pair put on 35 in the first 4 overs. Then Kayleigh Powell scored 16 & Ben Crook 14 (including a six over square leg). Jack Vincent, Lewis Thomas, Llew Lloyd & Guto Pari all contributed well during the Miskin innings.

Miskin won by 39 runs.

Blaengarw  240-9 – Miskin 294-7   

Miskin Manor CC U11 travelled to Darran Field in Blaengarw to play Blaengarw CC U11 on Monday 11th July, 2011.

Miskin won the toss & put the home side in to bat on a damp wicket.

Both sides found it hard to adjust to the wicket which proved a slow turner.

Batting first Blaengarw lost steady wickets but their Mid Glamorgan players held them together with captain Brandon Huntly contributing 17 runs. Ben Crook took 2-6 & Mat Mullen 2-13.

In reply Miskin found batting equally as difficult & got off to a slow start losing a number of quick wickets. Ben Crook (17) & Kayleigh Powell (15) steadied the innings in the middle order whilst Ike Hurford & William Clapham batted sensibly as the last pair in.

Miskin eventually won by 54 runs.

Upper Rhondda CC U11 v Miskin Manor CC U11

Miskin  342 for 2 – Upper Rhondda 223 for 6   

Miskin Manor CC U11 travelled to Ystradfechan Field in Treorchy to play Upper Rhondda U11 on a warm Summer’s evening Monday 4th July, 2011.

Miskin lost the toss & were put in by the home side.

On a fast track Miskin got off to a quick start scoring 32 off the first 4 overs to set the tempo of the innings. Lewys Ryan (18) Ben Crook (16) Ike Hurford (19) Mat Clapham (13) all contributed & Iestyn Herridge made a fine debut for the side scoring 11 not out.

In reply Upper Rhondda never really got going & were pegged back by Lewys Ryan (2 for 1) & Ike Hurford (1 for 2) off their individual bowling spells.

It was a good all round performance by the Miskin side.

Miskin Manor U11 won by 119 runs.

Miskin Manor CC U11 v Pentyrch CC U11 – 23rd June 2011

Pentyrch  233 for 7 – Miskin Manor 272 for 7  

Miskin Manor CC U11 played Pentyrch CC U11 in an entertaining game on Thursday 23rd June in a friendly fixture at Glyn Park.

Pentyrch CC won the toss & decided to bat.

Pentyrch CC posted a total of 233 with the pick of the Miskin bowlers Niall Jones 2 for 0 & Ike Hurford 2 for 3.

In reply Miskin batted steadily. Mat Mullen scored 8 in a good opening partnership with Ben Crook. Kayleigh Powell scored 14 & Niall Jones weighed in with some big hitting including a 6 over mid wicket with 16.

The game was played in good spirit throughout & thanks to Pentyrch CC for agreeing to switch the fixture to Miskin at last minute due to the weather.

Miskin Manor U11 won by 39 runs.

Good luck to the 6 Miskin players chosen to represent Mid Glamorgan U11 against Pembrokeshire U11 in Aberdare on Sunday 26th June along with Lewys Ryan who will be on Wales U11 duties.

Llantwit Fardre 225 for 9 off 20 overs

MMCC 293 for 5 off 20 overs

MMCC won by 68 runs

MMCC won the toss & put LLantwit Fardre in to bat.  Miskin U11 never let Llantwit Fardre push-on with their innings & kept the score down with some tight bowling.  Ike Hurford returned 3 overs, 3 wickets for 9 runs and he was ably supported by Dan Coles with 1 for 4 & Rhys Thomas with 1 for 7.

In reply each Miskin pair batted sensibly.  The captain, Ike Hurford, was the pick of the Miskin batting with 19 not out. Ben Crook also had a good all-round game as wicket-keeper batsman contributing 13 runs.

Competition for places is high and if the U11′s continue in this vein of form they will be pushing for league honours at the end of the season.

Miskin Manor CC U11 v Hoovers CC U11 

Hoovers  238 for 7 – Miskin Manor 294 for 4  

Miskin Manor CC U11 welcomed the 2010 Mid Glamorgan League winners Hoovers CC to Glyn Park on Monday 16th May, 2011.

Miskin won the toss & decided to field.

Hoovers posted a total of 238 with the pick of the Miskin bowlers Lewys Ryan with 2 for 2 off his 3 over spell, Ike Hurford 2 for 9 & Matthew Clapham 1 for 7.

In reply Miskin batted sensibly & overtook the posted total early in their innings then defended their lead. Ben Crook followed his impressive form for Mid Glamorgan County against Pembrokeshire on 15th May with 11 runs in his 4 over stint with Matthew Mullen also contributing 10 runs in his 4 overs at the crease.

Miskin Manor U11 won by 56 runs.

Llantwit Major Cavaliers U11 v Miskin Manor U11 – 12 May 2011

Miskin Manor 294 for 2 – Llantwit Major 238 for 8

Miskin Manor CC U11 enjoyed a friendly fixture away in Llantwit Major on Thursday 12th May 2011.

Miskin lost the toss & were put in to bat. On a dry wicket & outfield anything that went past a fielder was effectively 4 runs. The Miskin U11 captain, Ike Hurford, had an outstanding match. He top scored with 18 runs off his 4 over batting stint. Ike was ably supported by Niall Jones who hit 15 runs at the end of the innings & also wicket-keeper Ben Crook who scored 14 runs. Miskin posted a decent total of 294 runs off 20 overs.

Llantwit Major faced an uphill battle against some accurate Miskin bowling. Fresh from his Wales U11 call-up Lewys Ryan took 2 for 6. Ike Hurford took 2 for 14 and Kayleigh Powell finished with 3 for 9.

Miskin Manor won the game by 56 runs.

The game proved useful practice for the club U11 side  who will play in the Mid Glamorgan U11 league again this season.
