Ynystawe in winter

Miskin travelled to old friends, Ynystawe CC for their first pre-season outing on Sunday in barmy conditions, Dan Hay won the toss and elected to bat.  Ash James, with icicles forming on his nose, stroud to the wicket with young Iestyn Herridge, Ash cashing in with an impressive 51, Iestyn still recovering from the shock of being told there was no tea.

Miskin finished on 184 with some good contributions from George and Dans Hay and  Lewis, sending the travelling support into a wild frenzy.

By the time Miskin took the field, the sun was poking through and with the real prospect of reaching a double digit centigrade reading, big James Wilkins opened down the hill with the wind, skipper Hay heading back up.

A good workout for the Miskin boys, including a superb debut leg side stumping by Ryan Williams off the skipper, ultimately ended in defeat as Ynystawe took control and eased to a comfortable win with plenty of time to spare.

Onwards and upwards, two games next weekend, and open to all.  Please can you let Matthew Ayers and Dan Hay know your availability.  Hopefully, the sun will shine and the icicles will have thawed by then!
